Having studied Social and Political Studies at Sheffield University, a muppet named Matt Mayer decided to waste any chance of making any money in life by making the decision to dive into the world of painting. This was in spite of the fact that he achieved a C at GCSE Art, and hadn't painted a thing since. The decision somehow paid off, though, as he managed to sell through Archipelago Gallery in Sheffield, and bits and pieces to contacts he built up. Currently working on his first exhibition, based on his hometown of Knutsford, he continues to sell through the gallery in Sheffield, as well as working on commissioned pieces for private buyers.
His paintings remain varied in style, and he occasionally experiments - with differing degrees of success. Always working with acrylics on canvas, the style with which he has become most accustomed to, and best known for, is his colourful depictions of city scenes and architecture, but continues to work on portraits, pen-sketches, peculiar side projects and in one case a computer-game based piece. Furthermore, his collection of "Tarquin and Asbo-child" cartoons remain his most cherished creative endeavour. He'd be happy to take commissions on any subject matter one might desire a painting of, and if you were to drop him an email, he'll happily discuss ideas, sizes, prices, and fashion tips.
